Phil Spencer Doesn’t Want Xbox 1.5

There are plenty of rumors flying around about a PlayStation 4.5. It’d be a version of the console that would supposedly have an improved GPU and support 4K resolution. But, don’t worry about an Xbox One and a half. Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s Xbox head, says he doesn’t want to see a Xbox 1.5.

Spencer’s statement on an incremental release pretty much ruled out any update. He said, “I’m not a big fan of Xbox One and a half. If we’re going to move forward, I want to move forward in big numbers. For us, our box is doing well. It performs, it’s reliable, the servers are doing well. If we’re going to go forward with anything, like I said, I want it to be a really substantial change for people–an upgrade.” So, it seems more likely we’d see a whole new Xbox system that’s a substantial step further, rather than some Xbox 1.5 that’s slightly better.

Which is probably for the best. While a PS4.5 or Xbox 1.5 may make sense for some, it might be best to keep the market simple when it comes to systems costing over $300.
