Mortal Kombat is often compared to Capcom’s Street Fighter series due to their positions as two of the most competitive fighters on the scene. This has been true since the ’90s. One of the ways Mortal Kombat seems to gain an edge, though, is in its characters and their stories. Players really get excited about new characters. Today, new details were revealed about the character Triborg.
Triborg is a robot that features three different fighting styles that are homages to other Mortal Kombat characters. During the finals of of ESL, players got to see how Triborg uses moves from classic characters, Cyrax, Sektor, and Smoke. Then a quick glimpse of a fourth character was revealed. The players played for a few seconds, throwing a few ice moves out, and then set the controllers down claiming that they didn’t know any combos. It was a cute way of showing the crowd that Sub-Zero, the ice ninja, would also be a moveset for the robot.
It’s nice to know that the different options for Triborg are more than just pallete swaps. Gamers will be able to get their hands on Cyber Sub-Zero’s style when the Kombat Pack 2 expansion is released on the first of March.
