While 22 isn’t the kind of birthday that makes headlines by itself, The Pokemon Company is keeping Pokemon Day as an annual thing with a series of events and new goodies spread across the technological world. From a new app that lets you chat with Pikachu, to another limited-time Snapchat filter, Pokemon fans will have some neat stuff to play with today.
First, The Pokemon Company has released a new app for Google Home and Amazon Alex devices, called Pikachu Talk. Pikachu Talk will convert the fake robot lady voice of your smart device to Pikachu squawking its own name, and your kids will probably love that at least as long as it takes you to hate it.
Snapchat, as has happened in the past, is introducing a set of Pokemon filters, starting today and lasting for a limited time. The filters will feature classic starter Pokemon Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. In Pokemon GO , a special birthday hat-wearing Pikachu is available until tomorrow, and the Pokemon TV app and website will make the Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You! Animated film available for free streaming for a week. It’s a pretty good movie, by the way.
