PUBG Reaches Highest Steam Player Count

PUBG Reaches Highest Steam Player Count

It would make perfect sense that a game which allows up to 100 players per match would break some numbers records. That doesn’t make it any less impressive though that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds keeps breaking player number records left and right. Especially since it is only an early access game!

Not long ago, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds beat out Dota 2 as the most played game on Steam. At the time, it still didn’t have enough players concurrently to beat out the popular Valve MMO. It would seem the hype train is not coming to a stop anytime soon though, as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has usurped the king. This past weekend, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds swooped in with a massive 1,342,857 players at the same time. Dota 2 ‘s highest concurrent player count at the time of the record break was 1,295,114.

At 50,000 players more, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is officially the most played game on Steam. Many saw this day coming, but no one could know for certain that Dota 2 would no longer reign supreme. Playerunknown took to Twitter to thank all the players and fans, as well as the team working on the game, for this record breaking moment.

There’s no better time like the present if you want to get into a game that’s doing amazingly well. Gather up all your buddies to play! But even if you don’t, you’ll have plenty of randos to enjoy the game with!
