Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege players might be facing the banhammer soon, if they don’t start to watch their language and other griefing efforts. Ubisoft plans to integrate a bunch more features during the Season 3 update this summer in order to combat negative behavior in Rainbow Six Siege . This is in line with many other games like Overwatch , and League of Legends , who are taking similar stances.
First off, Ubisoft will be seeking out players who intentionally kill off their teammates. There’s a brand new detection system that will be going in place to discover those who are currently getting away with it. Another new ability in Rainbow Six Siege will give players the power to mute either text or voice chat from other players (or both!). There will also be a filtering system to take out offensive words. Those using them will get a warning, and potentially have disciplinary action taken against them.
Last but certainly not least, Ubisoft plans to focus on the use of hate speech, as well as racial or homophobic slurs in Rainbow Six Siege . According to Ubisoft, these words include anything that’s “illegal, dangerous, threatening, abusive, obscene, vulgar, defamatory, hateful, racist, sexist, ethically offensive, or constituting harassment.”
Not only will all of these above behaviors be closely monitored by Ubisoft, they will also be disciplining accordingly. Bans for policy violations can last anywhere from two days to permanently. The company won’t be doling out bans on a sliding scale either. If a player is found to be breaking the rules often, they could be perma-banned from the very beginning without warning.
