According to their “Integrated Report 2015,” Capcom sees Virtual Reality as one of the hottest markets in gaming. As a result, a major focus for Capcom’s “Development Division 1” will be in creating surprising new virtual reality experiences.
Development Division 1 is the part of Capcom in charge of the Resident Evil series and is lead by Jun Takeuchi, the producer from Resident Evil 5 .
The company has experimented with virtual reality horror games in the past. At this year’s E3, a tech demo called “Kitchen” elicited terrified responses from many who played it.
Whether or not this new emphasis for the team pays off is hard to predict, but it could just end up being the new direction that revitalizes the long-stagnant Resident Evil series.
