Rise of the Tomb Raider is the latest action game starring the iconic Lara Croft, and the best offering yet from Crystal Dynamics, which has breathed fresh life into what was a dying franchise. I was a little let down by the fact that Crystal Dynamics entered into some kind of contract with Microsoft to make the game a timed exclusive, but honestly, it’s a great studio and I really do hope that they made some good money our of the partnership. I know that Rise of the Tomb Raider sold over a million copies on Xbox One, and I can’t wait to play it when it finally releases on PS4 this year.
Before that happens though, and in honor of its partnership with Microsoft, Crystal Dynamics will be releasing Rise of the Tomb Raider for PCs (coming to Windows 10 and Steam) on January 28. The PC version will feature numerous additional features, including 4K resolution for those of you who’ve invested in 4K monitors (all 100 of you).
“The PC release of Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the positive momentum from our highly successful partnership and collaboration with Microsoft for the launch on Xbox One and Xbox 360,” said Scot Amos, co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics. While I’d love to play the game and snag the trophies on PS4, I may just have to grab this one on Steam; as of now I believe the PS4 release date is projected for Q4 2016, and that won’t fly.
