RUMOR: Apple And Google Entering Console War?

RUMOR: Apple And Google Entering Console War?

None

For a while now, gamers have been wondering whether or not Apple was going to dip into the console market with its own iConsole. After Microsoft joined the race with the Xbox, most gamers thought it was the next natural step for Microsoft’s largest competitor in the computer market. The amazing success of iPhone gaming only further raised suspicions. Although now, it is arguable that Google is Apple’s biggest competitor in the phone market. So might Google join the console war too?

Brian Farrell, CEO of THQ thinks so. Recently Farrell had this to say about the next generation of consoles and the war that will ensue: “We believe Apple is going to be there, Google is going to be there. Our view is that the next generation of consoles, if there are consoles, are going to be less about technology and more about service orientation of the gamer.”

So we are moving away from the graphics age and into the service age. Frankly, it’s only a matter of time before all of our consoles are also handhelds, also computers, also phones, and also blenders. I can’t wait to get my hands on a PlaySmoothieStation Portable.
