Sonic Lost World Details Revealed, Including Competitive Multiplayer

SEGA’s sudden reveal of Sonic Lost World for the Wii U and 3DS came as a surprise to many, despite their recent exclusivity deal with Nintendo. The developer today released some finer details about the game to complement the initial reveal trailer.

Both versions of the game are going to focus on two new mechanics in the form of parkour moves, a staple for recent Sonic titles, and all new “Color Powers.” The Wii U version, however, will utilize the controller’s tilt and touch features more heavily than the 3DS with the addition of exclusive Color Powers. The 3DS version—which will be the first 3D Sonic the Hedgehog game to release on a handheld—will include a batch of unique levels of its own.

More impressive, however, is the confirmation of competitive multiplayer modes. We can’t exactly expect team deathmatch and capture the flag from Sonic, but the mention of multiplayer brings something new to the platforming table. Who knows, maybe we’ll see some online co-op in Lost World as well?

We’ll keep you updated as SEGA releases more information on our blue hedgehog’s next adventure.
