Practically in the middle of the night, Sony announced the PlayStation Classic, a new device that fits right in with Nintendo’s miniature classic systems. (We’ll just chalk up to a big ol’ coincidence in the spirit of competition.) This device will cost $99.99 and contain 20 games in total.
So far, only a handful of included games have been announced. The list at this time is Final Fantasy VII , Tekken 3 , Wild Arms , Ridge Racer Type 4 , and Jumping Flash . Depending on how many JRPGs they cram on this thing, that $99.99 price point will only become more and more of a deal.
The package comes with two controllers, which are modeled after the first PlayStation controllers. This means they will not be DualShocks. The manual resembles the original PlayStation manual, and of course the unit itself is a mock up of the original console, albeit about 45% smaller. For various reasons, an AC adapters will be sold separately, but the box will come with a USB charge cable.
The PlayStation Classic will release just in time for Christmas, as it will be showing up on December 3, 2018.
