Square Enix Producing More UCEs for Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix Producing More UCEs for Final Fantasy XV

So remember that super fancy, super expensive Ultimate Collector’s Edition of Final Fantasy XV ? During the “Uncovered: Final Fantasy XV ” event back in March, it was revealed that only 30,000 Ultimate Collector’s Editions would be produced and sold around the world. As you can imagine, they sold out very quickly, and of course, several could be found on Ebay for obscene amounts of money afterward (this is the great amiibo shortage of 2015 all over again). Fans weren’t happy, so (to the surprise of no one) Square Enix has decided to produce more.

An official blog post reports that, “we have been able to produce 10,000 more copies of the Final Fantasy XV Ultimate Collector’s Edition (UCE) which will be sold worldwide! This brings the total up to 40,000 copies of the UCE.” I like how he says that they “were able” to produce 10,000 more, maintaining the air of exclusivity and scarcity; nice touch. At any rate, Square Enix has confirmed that this is the last batch it will produce, and they’ll be made available to order for customers already on the waiting list. If that’s you, and you’re lucky, you’ll get an email May 23 with instructions on how to order, but there’s no guarantee that these extra UCEs will be ready for launch day, so take that into consideration.
