Starcraft II: Heart Of The Swarm Trailer Released

Starcraft II: Heart Of The Swarm Trailer Released

None

Blizzard recently unveiled their first trailer for Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Heart of the Swarm is the upcoming Zerg campaign expansion pack, and boy does it look sexy!

The campaign will follow a strangely humanized Kerrigan as she leads the Zerg swarm through a planetary conquest. Kerrigan will operate like a Warcraft III hero, leveling up as the game goes on. However, unlike past heroes in single-player Blizzard RTS campaigns, Kerrigan can respawn if she dies, allowing you to be as aggressive as a Zerg player should be. Kerrigan can switch between different skill loadouts before each battle, and she’ll take part in just about every battle that takes place in the Zerg campaign.

Outside of the customizability that Kerrigan has, the “Evolution Chamber” will allow you to increase the abilities of your Zerg units. Units can gain simple bonuses like upgraded strength or quicker build time, but they can also “evolve” Pokemon-style into brand new Zerg strains. For example, Banelings can evolve into Splitterlings that can split into two more Banelings if killed. We can only hope that some of these new units become available in multiplayer, though Blizzard hasn’t yet commented on multiplayer changes.

Overall, this expansion looks pretty cool, and hopefully we’ll find out more about it as it gets closer to release.
