Steam Gets Final Fantasy VI, but not the One You Want

Steam Gets Final Fantasy VI, but not the One You Want

We have a serious good news, bad news situation here. The good news is, one of the best Final Fantasy games is getting ported to a system where it can be enjoyed by everyone who knows Final Fantasy VI is the absolute best. The bad is, it isn’t the Super Nintendo, PlayStation, or Game Boy Advance version of the game. No, this is the Android and iOS port headed to PCs, which means it looks different.

Not different good, mind you. Different as in, “this looks like an RPG Maker game.” The enemy sprites and maps remain largely unchanged, but the character sprites, character portraits, and user interface have been changed.

The trailer does a better job of illustrating my point than my words ever could.

The Windows PC port of Final Fantasy VI will be released on December 16. It will have an updated control scheme and support Steam Achievements, Cloud saves, and Trading Cards. A price hasn’t been revealed, but this version is $15.99 on iOS and Android devices.
