Super Mario Galaxy Sells 500K in First Week

None

The recently released Super Mario Galaxy, claimed by Nintendo to be the “true sequel” to Super Mario 64, has sold 500,000 units during its first week.  George Harrison, the current senior vice president of marketing at Nintendo, stated that Super Mario Galaxy has the strongest first week sales of any Mario game ever.

If ratings figures are to be believed, Mario Galaxy rightly deserves its impressive sales figures.  With a recent ranking of 97.8 from 40 reviews on GameRankings.com, Mario Galaxy stole the number one slot from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time, which scored 97.6.  While Mario Galaxy’s score has dropped to a 97.4, where it is holding the second place slot.
