Super Mario Maker Getting a Welcome Update

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Super Mario Maker has provided some of the most fun and engagement I’ve experienced on my Wii U since I bought it, and while it certainly isn’t broken, fans are eager for additional content and there’s an update on the way that will supply some of the most consistently requested additions.

The biggest addition, and one that should have been there from the start, is a mid-level checkpoint. Now you’ll be able to drop a checkpoint to which players will return whenever they fail. This will give creators more freedom to make longer, more complex levels without worrying about negative feedback due to difficulty. Another very practical addition will be the ability to combine power-ups with mushrooms so that whenever Mario hits a question block, he’ll either receive a power-up item or a mushroom depending on his status.
