Super Soccer, also known as Super Formation Soccer in Japan, is a retro soccer simulation game. It was released for the SNES in December of 1991 in Japan and in May 1992 in North America. It was developed and published by Human Entertainment except overseas where it was published by gaming giant Nintendo.
The game received mixed or average reviews from critics. Critics pointed out its slow progress compared to other soccer games from its time. But it did well enough to warrant several more successful sequels. All of the sequels however are exclusive to Japan. Super Soccer is so popular that it is included in the SNES app for Nintendo Switch online subscribers.
Super Soccer Premise
This game has players compete in both exhibition games and tournament games. Exhibition matches are single games. In exhibition games, players also have the option of either competing against AI or a friend with another controller.
In tournament matches, players must beat every other national team before taking on the Nintendo team. There are 16 different national teams to beat. After the full tournament is won, players will receive a special code to play the game in a more advanced, “expert” mode. But don’t worry, we have that special code for you in our cheat code lists. The difficulty increases each round, the easiest teams are first to beat and the hardest saved for last. And in case you were worried about losing progress, after each tournament match you will receive a code that can put you back to where you left off.
