Hook Cheats & Cheat Codes for SNES, Commodore 45, GameBoy, and More

Hook Cheats & Cheat Codes for SNES, Commodore 45, GameBoy, and More

The 1991 cult classic Robin Williams film Hook was adapted into a number of video game adaptations. From 1992 to 1993, Hook received a game release on the Arcade, PC, Sega Genesis, Sega CD, SNES, and Commodore 64/NES/Game Boy. These games had a variety of different developers and publishers, but Ocean Software created the majority of the versions.

It’s hard to get an accurate understanding of how the games performed when they were released. Each version of the game was essentially a completely different game genre. While one game was a side-scrolling platformer, another was a point-and-click adventure. Overall, the games received middling reviews but fulfilled their promise of bringing the Hook movie to life.

Hook Premise

Arcade:

The arcade version of the game is a four-player classic side-scrolling beat ’em up. Players can choose to be the heroic Peter Pan or one of four different Lost Boys. Players will progress through six different stages fighting Captain Hook’s minions.

PC:

The PC version takes players through a point-and-click adventure through Neverland. Peter Pan will solve a variety of puzzles by talking and interacting with iconic characters to receive useful items. This version of Hook is the best if you’re looking to really explore Neverland and get to know the characters.

Sega and SNES:

The Sega and SNES versions of Hook are another side-scrolling platformer. This version has twelve different levels that take players through a diverse assortment of locations. As Peter Pan, players can explore caves, forests, lagoons, and snowy mountains. Captain Hook’s villainous army are henchmen is back to get in your way and prevent you from reaching Hook.

Commodore 64/NES/Game Boy:

The Commodore 64/NES/Game Boy versions of the game are probably the most expansive versions of Hook. These versions are once again an action side-scrolling platformer. Like the Sega and SNES versions, Peter Pan must traverse through different levels while fighting Captain Hook’s minions, but this time Peter Pan is able to fly and swim. The Game Boy version specifically has an impressive 27 levels for players to beat.

Hook Main Character

Regardless of the version of Hook that a player decides to play, they all follow the same story. Peter Pan must explore Neverland to save his kidnapped children from the evil Captain Hook. Every version of the game has players interact with characters from the film and have an eventual showdown with Captain Hook at the end of the game.

Just like the film, the Hook video games are stand-alone games with no sequels or prequels.
