Here comes yet another Spiderman game for consoles with the classic Spiderman flair. Swing around New York, sneaking around and beating up bad guys. Pretty standard as a setup. Some critics have called this game nothing but a promotional set-piece for the 2012 Amazing Spiderman reboot movie. However, Spiderman games were never designed to be this incredible and deep story to shake gamers to their core. No, this game is just a bit of fun on a lazy afternoon. What makes this game even better is skipping a lot of the boring and lackluster story elements with amazing unlockables and cheats.

Amazing Spiderman (2012) Premise

This rendition of Spiderman comes as basically just a discount version of the movie with more B-list villains. A few months after the movie’s events, Peter and Gwen go to Oscorp to investigate a rumor of cross-species experiments using a deadly virus. Naturally, the virus escapes containment and starts to infect New York City. Now it’s the classic race against time to save the city, Gwen, and Peter himself from this deadly virus.

The game is intercut with the classic side missions in an open-world format. Stop the mugger, take the civilian to “x” location in the city, do some training missions to get more XP, etc. The fun bit of this game is the open world and less the story.

Amazing Spiderman (2012) Main Characters

Peter Parker/Spiderman – Amazingly these are the same people and the main character of the game. Peter is the shy nerdy kid dressed in classic New York City streetware. Spiderman is dressed in his Spidersuit.

Gwendolyn “Gwen” Maxine Stacy – Gwen is a supporting character and Peter Parker’s girlfriend in this specific universe and IP of the Spiderman series. She is blonde and dressed in a green dress and grey coat. She is one of the first to be infected with the deadly virus.

Whitney Chang – As another supporting character, Whitney is New York City’s top reporter trying to break the story on Oscorp conducting cross-species experiments. She is dressed in pretty classic New York City fashion

Rinho – As one of the main antagonists, Rinho is half-human and half-rinho. Creativity aside this villain is just that, a villain. He is dressed in just a pair of shorts and looks mostly like a rinho.

Felicia Hardy “Black Cat” – Felicia comes a side villain but one of the best missions in the game. She doesn’t do much to stop or spread the virus but her role is vital. She is dressed like Catwoman from the Batman universe just with more fashion and has her silver hair out.
