Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Summary
With how painstakingly popular Star Wars is, there’s no surprise that it has a few games in its lineup. Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, is, much like the film it is based on, a sequel to Super Star Wars. It is a 2D side scroller developed by LucasArts, where the characters have to make it from one end of the stage to the other. This time around, you get a double jump, but character select was removed. Likely because the plot sees the characters going in wildly different directions, and it would be weird if Luke was in Cloud City at the start, or Han was on Yoda’s swamp planet.
Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Premise
Taking place after the events of Super Star Wars, which covered A New Hope. This game follows the same plot as The Empire Strikes Back. With the Death Star destroyed, you’d think the age of the Empire would come to an end, or rather, slow down. But no, the Empire is on the move, hunting the rebellion wherever they can. And now, they have tracked the rebels to the icy planet of Hoth. There, the evil lord Darth Vader hunts the young man, Luke Skywalker. It is up to Luke to help the rebels evacuate and learn more about the past between the Jedi and the Sith.
Han Solo’s job, on the other hand, is a bit less mystical. With Leia in the famous Millenium Falcon, he has to get her to rebel space. The problem is, the hyperdrive is busted, so going faster than light isn’t an option. What’s more, the Empire is right on their tail, and nobody likes having a Star Destroyer right on their thruster.
Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back Main Characters
While there’s no shortage of bosses and bounty hunters to be found, in this game, you play as the misfit trio.
- Luke Skywalker. The hero of the rebellion, the last Jedi, and more. He may or may not be the chosen one.
- Han Solo. The smuggler, the rogue, the lancer to Luke’s hero. You know who this guy is, and never tell him the odds.
- Chewbacca. Han’s ever-loyal friend who has been with him through thick and thin.

Sound Test
At any time during stages where you control one of the heroes (not during stages where you control a vehicle IE snow speeder or spaceship), press and hold down the following buttons: A, B, X, Y, and Down. While holding these, press Start to access a Sound Test. Use Left and Right to cycle through the tunes, press A to select the desired tune, and listen to it. While still playing the selected tune, you can press Start to resume gameplay.
Change Intro
On the Game Start, Option, and Password screen, press Y four times. If entered correctly, you will hear a tone. Select ”Game Start” and press Start. Wait for the title ”Star Wars” to fade off. Then, when the introduction comes on, use the Control Pad and L and R to rotate and scroll the words around the screen. You can also move the Star Destroyer around, too. That is all the code does.
View Build DateTo view the date the game was built on, simply have a Super Scope, (strange, I know) plugged into the second controller port. The build date will be displayed at the bottom of the title screen.
