According to a Bloomberg report, which cited two anonymous sources close to the Microsoft Corp., former News Corp. President Peter Chernin has been in talks with the software/gaming giant about developing a television channel specifically for Xbox LIVE users. It is alleged that, at an April 12 th meeting in Redmond, Washington, “Chernin suggested raising Xbox LIVE’s monthly fee by $1 or $2 to add programming aimed at the online service’s young, male target audience.” To us, it kind of sounds like G4TV, only console-specific. Adding superfluous content to LIVE just to get the subscription price basis up seems like a terrible PR decision. Hopefully this channel will be optional. If not, Microsoft better prepare to clean a lot of stinky, brown fans. |
