In addition to its strong foothold in the home console business, a major pillar of Nintendo's success has always been its understanding of how to make great handhelds, as evidenced by the Game Boy Advance. The original Game Boy and Game Boy Color had managed to outdo numerous competitors despite them having more advanced hardware, proving that the handheld market was about more than just pure performance.
