The Lights Go Out in the Cities: Skylines this September

The Lights Go Out in the Cities: Skylines this September

Cities: Skylines’ first expansion, After Dark , is designed to make the city simulation and SimCity successor more real. Previously, it was always sunny in Cities: Skylines. Eternal daylight plagued people’s towns. Think of it as Mr. Burns’ sun blocking machine, but in reverse. After Dark changes that by bringing back the night on September 24.

Cities: Skylines After Dark isn’t only about making things prettier and adding a real day-night cycle. It’s also about giving people more options about how to run their cities. You have separate day and night budgets, and can schedule services and different actions to run during the day or during the night.

In the Paradox Interactive Forums announcement announcement, Karoliina Korppoo of Colossal Order recommends sending garbage trucks out to do their jobs at night. She also recommends creating new bus lines, since people’s objectives change at night.

A price for Cities: Skylines After Dark has yet to be announced, but we’ll probably hear about it soon.
