If you’re a Call of Duty fan, then you know just how important Infinity Ward’s entries have been to the series as a whole. No doubt you’ll remember the stellar (pun intended) opening to Call of Duty: Ghosts, which took place aboard a space station and ended in a zero-gravity firefight. It was an excellent set-piece, and one of the most memorable parts of the game. If you found yourself wishing that Infinity Ward would have run with that concept and set more of the campaign in space, you might be really excited by what industry insider “Shinobi” had to say on NeoGAF .
According to Shinobi, who is an honored and reputable source within the GAF community, this year’s Call of Duty game will take place in space. Eurogamer reports that this corroborates information that it had gathered independently. Apparently, the game will take place in the distant future. According to Shinobi we can expect “space combat” in the “very far future,” and the game will be “full on sci-fi.”
No doubt this will be a fascinating departure for the franchise, and I for one am stoked to see how Infinity Ward pulls off the trademark, fast-paced CoD multiplayer formula with futuristic weaponry and what the maps might look like. Stay tuned to CheatCC; I’m thirsty for any details surrounding this sci-fi CoD, and when I learn anything you’ll be the first to know.
