The PlayStation VR Will Cost $400

The PlayStation VR Will Cost $400

At GDC 2016, something important happened. It’s critical to the future of virtual reality, even. The PlayStation VR was dated and priced. Sony says it’ll cost $400 when it arrives in October 2016. That makes it the least expensive of the three major VR systems announced this year, as the Oculus Rift will be $600 and the HTC Vive will be $800.

However, the PlayStation VR isn’t just $400. The headset will also require a $59.99 PlayStation Camera. Also, you might need to get PlayStation Move controllers, again about $50 each, to play some games. On the plus side, PlayStation Move controllers can be rather cheap. A bundle that includes the headset, camera, and a Move controller, which hasn’t been priced yet, will also be released.

Sony said that there will supposedly be 50 games compatible with the PlayStation VR this year. If things work out as planned, the peripheral could end up being worth it for people willing to spend $460 for everything.
