Titanfall Will Only have Three Titans at launch; No NDA for Upcoming Beta Inferred

With Titanfall’s launch hurtling closer to dropping on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC next month, Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella expressed both the studio’s excitement and wariness of the game’s launch, and the studio’s community manager Abbie Heppe confirmed that there will be no other titan variants.

In response to a question over Twitter, Heppe stated that there will be no more than three titans, presumably the three variants already unveiled. Whether this applies to the game’s post-launch, or to some secret titan yet to be revealed before the game’s launch, or just no more than three titans just in general was not specified.

@DMC_Ryan there are not more than 3 titans. Bam! Knowledge 🙂

The three titans that are already available seem to fit the heavy/medium/light tonnages you may anticipate in a mech-filled warzone quite well: the Ogre as the heavy, the Atlas and the medium and the Styder as the light. Adding a fourth titan to the mix may screw things up a bit, unless any additional titans were only cosmetically different and still fit within the heavy / medium / light roles.

When asked over Twitter if he was excited for Titanfall’s launch, Zampella answered that he was, but that excitement is mixed with fear too. Respawn just wants the game’s launch to go as smooth as possible, and Zampella expressed that the Titanfall’s Beta should help things along. Which, in saying so, somewhat confirms the rumor of an anticipated Beta of Titanfall coming shortly.

@Pikepointzero yes, but mixed with a bit of fear. We want the launch to be as smooth as possible. Beta should help.

Unlike the game’s recent Alpha test, which was initially believed to be fake before leaked footage started hitting the scene (which was in violation of the Alpha’s NDA), Titanfall’s Beta won’t be as restricted as its Alpha was, meaning players won’t be breaching any NDA agreement for, say, uploading footage to YouTube (even though some players did it anyway ).

@iDoriitoz should be, it won’t be restricted like the alpha

Titanfall is slated to drop on Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC next month on March 11 in the US, March 13 in the EU and Australian, and then March 14 in the UK and New Zealand. What’s more, there’s currently a rumor going around that a Titanfall themed Xbox One will be available as a bundle with a copy of Titanfall , but take that for what you will.
