Developer Robomodo has stated that its latest title, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, has sold approximately 120,000 copies in its first week on sale for Xbox LIVE Arcade.

The reboot of the longstanding skateboarding game series was also the first ever one to be released solely via digital download. The sales figure does not include PSN and PC sales, as those versions of the title are expected to be released in August and sometime later this year, respectively.

Robomodo’s Josh Tsui told Gamasutra he believes that the strong sales are due to good word-of-mouth amongst Xbox 360 owners. Tsui says that the game has been bolstered by players’ collective willingness to “try games that are smaller and downloadable.”

With the PS3 and PC getting the game in the coming months, Tsui notes that he is particularly intrigued by how the PC version of the THPS HD will fare. “It should be interesting to see the sales on PC—we’ve been surprised how many people are asking for that,” he said.
