Earlier today, Ubisoft and The Tetris Company formally announced via an online press release that they are partnering up to bring the beloved puzzle game to next-gen consoles later this year. 2014 marks the 30 th anniversary of the franchise and the game has currently sold millions of units worldwide across 50 different platforms.
Tetris Company Managing Director Henk B. Rogers stated that he welcomes Ubisoft to the Tetris family and is fully confident that they will make the best version of the game yet. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot returned the gesture and expressed his excitement to be working with the popular brand.
After hearing this news, I would say it’s great to hear that a new generation of gamers will get the opportunity to experience Tetris on their next-gen consoles. It is currently unknown if Ubisoft will spice up the gameplay experience or leave it virtually untouched. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out.
