Wolfenstein II’s Dog Mech Riding Kinda Sucks

Wolfenstein II’s Dog Mech Riding Kinda Sucks

Everyone is super hyped about Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus , and rightly so. The game looks absolutely amazing, and I’m frankly dying to get my hands on it. It would seem that one of the most anticipated parts of the game is turning out to be a bit of a let-down, though.

In Wolfenstein II, you get the chance to battle against and ride some giant mechanical dogs. Did I mention that they also breathe fire? Yeah, they sound killer and read as an awesome feature on paper. But it would appear that the real thing just isn’t that great. According to IGN, it’s really easy to forget that you’re even riding the thing.

It’s a giant dog mech, shouldn’t there be some kind of visually obvious gait on the screen? When you’re riding a horse, your field of vision bounces up and down a bit. It sounds like this is entirely missing from the mech riding in Wolfenstein II . The dog seems to just glide across the floor, thanks to the lack of visual up and down movement. The only way to even see the mech is to tilt the camera down. I would expect something much more realistic from Wolfenstein II .

The dogs also have unlimited fire breath, which sounds like a lot of fun, but I can imagine that it might get boring after a while. On the bright side, the player character has to battle these fiery mech dogs at some point, so that should prove to be an entertaining challenge.
