Xbox One Gets Minecraft in August

Xbox One Gets Minecraft in August

<sarcasm> I don’t know about you, but I have always thought that the pixelated textures and blocky axes of the 8 bit-esque Minecraft REALLY needed a next-gen layer of polish! </sarcasm> .

There is no denying the huge success that the Minecraft phenomenon has enjoyed. Starting out on the PC, it eventually migrated its way to the home consoles (landing on the 360). Now the Xbox Wire reports a new version for Xbox One is on the horizon, arriving sometime in August. The great news is, if you’ve already toiled away hours upon hours ‘crafting in the previous edition, you’re in luck! Your data WILL transfer! “Get ready for even bigger worlds (with scenic vistas), all of your favorite features from “ Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition ” and the option to import your saved game data and your beautiful, one-of-a-kind “ Minecraft ” world onto your Xbox One. That’s right, You don’t have to start from scratch. You can just keep going, right where you left off! That goes for most (but not all) of your downloadable skins and texture packs, though not all of them will make the jump.” Said the Wire.

The new Xbox One version will retail for $19.99. However, this is the introductory price for new users. Fans of the series will gladly find that, as long as they own either a digital or disc-based copy of the game, they will be allowed to upgrade for a mere $4.99! They have also stated they’ll be providing this upgrade discount for a full year after the game’s release.

So if you’re a diehard, you might as well circle it on your calendar as the “lost” part of your summer, because we all know you’re not going to get anything else done!
