Like many games, XCOM 2’ s launch wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. There have been a number of problems. A big problem was an issue that kept you through getting through the tutorial. Another kept saves from loading. There’ve been issues. Fortunately, some big ones have been repaired.
2K Games announced the XCOM 2 hotfix on Steam, and it’s immediately available for the game. If you couldn’t keep going after doing the tutorial’s Resistance Communications research, you will be able to now. Also, you can load saves where there’s a Chryssalid Cocoon. In each case, you’ll finally be able to make progress where it was previously impossible.
A few other issues were fixed with this XCOM 2 patch as well. The game won’t crash if you preview voice pack mods. You won’t see 8x MSAA in the default Max settings. Also, Texture Streaming has been fixed to prevent frame spikes. The loading issues still haven’t been repaired, but surprisingly, pressing Caps Lock can help with that.
Expect more XCOM 2 patches in the future. Soon, the only menace will be the alien one.
