You Don’t Have to Be Active to Play Arms

You Don’t Have to Be Active to Play Arms

Last week, we saw that the Nintendo Switch’s Joy-Con Controllers had motion controls built into them. We even saw some new games, like Arms and 1-2 Switch , that made good use of them. While 1-2 Switch will always need them, the fighter Arms won’t. Conventional and motion control schemes are available.

The motion control scheme for Arms makes it more of a boxing game. People hold a Joy-Con Controller in each hand and use it to punch. Conventional controls, however, let you play it using analog sticks and buttons instead. Morgan Ritchie, Nintendo’s localization producer, and J.C. Rodrigo, Nintendo’s project marketing manager, both confirmed the news. This could make it more of a serious fighting game, rather than one of those launch games that sometimes feels more like a technical demo.

I’m so glad that people who are interested in Arms will have this option. Motion controls have their moments, but sometimes you want to use standard control schemes. Especially with a system that has the option to be played absolutely everywhere. This is a really convenient move!
