Ys Vita Dated In The East; Coming To The West?

None

The Ys franchise is a long-running series of none-too-easy action-RPGs. The gameplay has varied from entry to entry, but more recent titles, such as Ark of Napishtim and Oath in Felghana (in fact a remake of Ys III) have used a movement system akin to classic titles in the Zelda franchise, though sped up to such a degree as to ratchet up the tension in combat. In short, they’re awesome, challenging games that are a little bit Zelda, a little bit bullet hell. And the latest is coming to the Vita.

Ys Celceta Sea of Trees is a remake of Ys IV, which is unique in the series because it was not, in fact, made by series creators Falcom. This is, in fact, Falcom’s first take on the story of Ys IV, and they’ve overhauled it with many of the innovations present in the most recent PSP release: Ys VII. Chief among these: a three member party system, which allows for character switching on the fly in combat. Celceta Sea of Trees has now, courtesy of Famitsu, been dated for Japan, where it will be hitting on September 27.

At E3, we asked an individual at XSEED Games, Falcom’s constant companion in publishing their games for the West, whether Celceta Sea of Trees was something they had in the pipe. Though we didn’t receive a direct answer, the individual confirmed that there is definite interest in bringing it to the West. That said, it doesn’t exactly hurt for the fans to get vocal about it, y’know?
