Zynga Continues to Lose Millions Annually

Zynga, the social games giant that was the biggest name in Facebook gaming only a few years ago, has been continuing to lose money year after year. It announced on Thursday that it lost nearly 225 million dollars in 2014 alone. Zynga has been posting a loss for the past few years, and nothing particularly seems like it will turn the studio around any time soon. The company expects its losses will continue into 2015, and is likely to lose over 50 million dollars in the first quarter alone.

Zynga plans to launch between six and ten new games in 2015. While more users flood the mobile gaming market every year, nearly doubling the influx from last year, this still isn’t enough to make Zynga spring back. We have commented on Zynga’s slow decline for a while now, but it isn’t quite ready to give up yet.

What do you think? Do you think that losing Zynga will deeply impact the gaming community? Do you think that it will harm gaming overall? Or do you think that other mobile and social game developers will take its place? Do you think the social gaming sphere has influence on gaming as a whole? Let us know in the comments.
