It seems like Ubisoft is having trouble holding on to their creative directors. Last year, Patrice Désilets, the creative director for the Assassin’s Creed franchise walked out with three other staff members . All four former Ubisoft employees were apparently heading for THQ Montreal, but Ubisoft’s lawyers and non-compete clauses had no intention of cooperating. Well, history is apparently repeating itself. Alexandre Amancio, who has been the creative director on the Assassin’s Creed titles since Désilets left, announced this week that he would be leaving the company in pursuit of a position outside the gaming industry.
Ubisoft has not yet released a statement about Amancio’s departure, and apparently has no one in mind for the position. However, it’s probably safe to assume that the developer will continue to churn out Assassin’s Creed titles. Ubisoft isn’t going to let a little bump like this get in the way of a moneymaking machine. By Josh Engen |
