Ubisoft Officially Announces Assassin’s Creed Rogue

As announced in a press release published on Tuesday, August 5, Ubisoft has confirmed the existence of Assassin’s Creed Rogue , and it has revealed that the game will be launching on Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is being co-developed by a number of Ubisoft studios, including Ubisoft Sofia–as well as its studios in Singapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan and Bucharest.

This other addition to the Assassin’s Creed franchise will be set in the 18th century, during the Seven Years War. Taking place in North America, players will have new locations to explore, such as the frozen North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley and 18th century New York.

Instead of playing as an Assassin this time round, players will take on the role of a Templar, named Shay Patrick Cormac. In Assassin’s Creed Rogue , players will suffer the brotherhood’s betrayal and become an Assassin hunter.

The acclaimed naval features of previous Assassin’s Creed games make a return in Assassin’s Creed Rogue . These features have been enhanced as well, but it wasn’t detailed as to what extent. Additionally, players will be able to wield new weapons for both land and sea in order to take down Assassins. What’s more, players get their own ship, named “ Morrigan ”.

We know that there are many Assassin’s Creed fans with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles who want to get their hands on a new Assassin’s Creed game this year, ” said Martin Capel, Ubisoft Sofia’s game director. “Assassin’s Creed Rogue completes the North American saga started with Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and gives previous generation console owners an exclusive opportunity to experience fan-requested features, such as playing as a Templar.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue cropped up on the Swiss online retailer World of Games recently, but it was soon taken down thereafter. It’s been also reported that previous characters, such as Haytham Kenway and Adewale, will make an appearance in this Assassin’s Creed title.
