While rumored when listings showed up in a few stores, Ubisoft has finally confirmed Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Remastered is a real thing. It is coming on March 20, 2018 for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The original Assassin’s Creed: Rogue came out in 2014 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, alongside the release of Assassin’s Creed Unity on the newer consoles. It would later launch on PCs in 2015. While Unity was infamously buggy and seen as the beginning of a brief decline for the series, Rogue was ultimately a bit buried, despite a much warmer critical reception.
This new version is being developed by Ubisoft Sofia, the same studio behind the original version. It will support 4K on both the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X, although what form that will take has not been specified. Otherwise, it will run at 1080p, which is still a step up from the original. Ubisoft also states Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Remastered will show off improved visuals, such as environmental rendering, textures, and other effects. It will also contain all the DLC for free, and a new bit of DLC that will let players wear Bayek’s costume from Assassin’s Creed: Origins .
