20th Century Fox Vs. Dice Age

20th Century Fox Vs. Dice Age

None

Apparently, if you produce a couple of children’s movies starring Ray Romano, you think you own the rights to an entire geological era. At least, that’s what 20th Century Fox seems to think.

The studio has filed paperwork which may allow them to legally oppose an indie game developer from registering the name of their upcoming “Dice Age” title. L’associationBonidé, Ice Age’s development company, is quite surprised by Fox’s action, and I can’t say that I blame them.

“My point of view, as a scientist, is the Ice Age is a geological era before it is a movie.” Said Tristan V Convert, the man behind Dice Age. He then joked, “They picked up the wrong guy: I prepare to fight. [I’ll] do my best to keep our liberties alive by hiring an expert.”

I don’t know if any of you noticed, but the title of this game isn’t even “Ice Age.” So, not only does 20th Century Fox think that they own the phrase “Ice Age,” the name for a geological era that lasted for over a hundred thousand years, but they also think that they own anything that sounds similar.

The entertainment industry gives me a headache.
