A Huge Half-Life 3 Banner Hangs Outside Gamescom

A Huge Half-Life 3 Banner Hangs Outside Gamescom

Gamescom is upon us. A time for fancy trailers, interactive booths, and exciting announcements. Because Gamescom is an event that, obviously, focuses on video games, you can count on a sizable crowd of devotees who swear that Half-Life 3 will finally be announced here. Half-Life 3 is like the end of the world: it’s always right around the corner according to some people, but it never actually comes to fruition. This year, hearts stopped and mouths fell open as Gamescom attendees entered the Kolnmesse convention center in Cologne. Hanging outside, right beside banners for Titanfall 2 and Watch_Dogs 2 , was a giant orange banner that said “Half-Life: 3,” with some sub-text below written in German.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t Valve’s way of making their long-awaited announcement that Half-Life 3 was finally in the works. This was some media company’s cruel, sick joke. The text below, when translated, reads: “editors who played it back then.” So when read together you get “Half-Life: 3 editors who played it back then.” So, you know, the banner is about three editors who played the original Half-Life when it was new. That is some 10/10 trolling.
