AMC Orders Preacher Pilot

AMC Orders Preacher Pilot

This is the ages of comic book movies and TV shows, and it’s only getting better. Shows like The Walking Dead have brought the work of lesser known and sometimes controversial graphic novels into the public space. Now, another ultra-violent sometimes controversial but quite popular in comic book circles series is getting a pilot for none other than AMC. Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg (known for This is The End ), and Sam Catlin (known for Breaking Bad ) are all attached.

The series is Preacher , written by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon. For those of you who aren’t in the know, Preacher is about Jesse Custer, a conflicted man of the cloth from Texas who merges with a creature from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do whatever he says. While that sounds awesome, the graphic novel is far more morally ambiguous.

“Every once in a while you find a project where all the elements line up beautifully. With Preacher , it starts with a bold, compelling, and thought-provoking comic book series from Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon and a whole lot of fans who already know Jesse Custer, Cassidy, and Tulip,” said Joel Stillerman, AMC’s executive vice president of original programming, production and digital content. “Add to that the passionate and talented Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Sam Catlin, an incredible producing team in Neal Moritz, the Original Film team and our good friends at Sony Pictures Television, and we have everything we need to be VERY excited to move forward on ‘ Preacher .’”
