Avengers 2 Will Be Darker Says Ruffalo

Avengers 2 Will Be Darker Says Ruffalo

Many folks thought The Avengers was one of the greatest films of all time! While I think that might be overstating things a bit, you can’t deny it was a fun ride. However, one returning actor says the next film will have a slightly different tone.

Mark Ruffalo (who took over the Hulk reigns from Ed Norton as Bruce Banner) recently said that the upcoming sequel will be darker than its predecessor. When asked about the script, Ruffalo said, “I would say that it’s better, it’s cooler, it’s more awesomer. It’s a little bit darker, but also really has Joss Whedon’s incredible witty and sly sense of humor.”

While he says that Banner gets to do “…such great stuff” in the next film, Ruffalo has also recently lobbied for his alter ego the Hulk to appear in another stand-alone movie. Ruffalo feels that an independent film would allow him to expand on more than just what we saw in The Avengers and that: “…if we get to a standalone Hulk movie , I’ll have a much better chance to do that. I’m just learning now how to find my voice and bring it into the studio world.”

Avengers 2 (officially titled “ Avengers: Age of Ultron ”) will be part of Marvel’s “phase 2” roll-out and should hit theaters in spring of next year.
