Batman Returns to Arkham on October 18

Batman Returns to Arkham on October 18

Batman: Return to Arkham has been on a roller-coaster ride of development setbacks. Originally due out in late July, Warner Bros. delayed the pair of remasters to give studio Various Games more time to “deliver a polished Batman Arkham game experience.” The comparison trailer released back then was incredibly underwhelming, and most character models and environments looked comparatively worse than their PS3 and Xbox 360 counterparts. Now Return to Arkham is due out October 18, and a new comparison trailer has been released.

The game looks… fine. Lighting in certain environments looks to be improved considerably, but there’s something very off about the character models, still. Our main villain, the Joker, looks much worse in the remaster than he did in the original games, and what the heck has happened to everyone’s hair? Harley Quinn also looks like she got plastic surgery on her chin. I’m not sure what those guys at Variable Games have been up to, but things are still looking a bit rough to me. At least we have some new reflective surfaces and water effects? Check out the trailer for yourself below:
