BioShock for Vita no Longer in Development

As reported by Polygon on Monday, July 7, co-founder of the now defunct Irrational Games Ken Levine took to Twitter to express his wishes of being able to develop a BioShock game for the PlayStation Vita, which is now no longer in development.

In his series of tweets, he outlined his vision of this could-be PlayStation Vita title as being a Final Fantasy Tactics -style game set during pre-fall Rapture.

According to Polygon, Levine explained that Sony and Irrational Games’ parent publisher 2K Games didn’t finalize a deal when he “ last checked ” on the matter, and that the two companies seemed way more optimistic about this back in 2011 ” when he originally showcased the idea during that year’s E3.

on the Vita game: 2k and sony couldn’t put a deal together when I last checked. They seemed way more optimistic about this back in 2011.

Levine also wishes he could develop the BioShock title himself, “ but lawyers and all that ” was his reason for not pursuing the thought.

When quizzed about what he had in mind for BioShock on the Vita, Levine replied that he was considering making the game an isometric turn-based, tactical role-playing in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics . Furthermore, Levine wanted to make the game work well on the PlayStation Vita whilst not being “ a compromise in any way.
