BioShock Vita Still Not In Development

BioShock Vita Still Not In Development

Back in 2011, Take-Two and Sony announced that BioShock would be heading to the PlayStation Vita. Unfortunately, it’s been a year and a half since the announcement was made and BioShock Vita is still not in development.

BioShock’s Ken Levin told IGN “It’s out of my hands… I’ve got my fingers crossed that that’s going to happen because it’s something I want to do but until somebody starts signing the checks, there’s nothing I can do.” For now, though, a deal has not been signed between Take-Two and Sony, and these deals are determined mostly by publishers, not developers. Developers can’t get money unless publishers make a deal, and publishers will only make a deal if it works out in their best interest. So, why isn’t BioShock Vita in Sony or Take-Two’s best interest?

The Vita has fallen on hard times, and Sony is certainly pushing the handheld as a must-have device for any owner of the PS4. But if Sony really wants the handheld to take off, it needs a powerful library of games, and BioShock is one of the most powerful titles on the market. Who knows, maybe we will hear something at this year’s E3.
