Borderlands 2 Is Official

Borderlands 2 Is Official

None

For a while fans have been spouting off rumors about a possible sequel to Borderlands, but now we have much more than simple hearsay. 2k Games and Gearbox Software sent out a press release today that confirmed Borderlands 2 is in fact in development.

The developers will be showing off Borderlands 2 at Gamescom and Pax Prime this year. The game is planned for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, launching sometime during the 2013 fiscal year. The 2013 fiscal year starts April 2012, so if all goes according to plan, we should see it on shelves in 2012 or early 2013. The game is not yet rated, but it’s pretty safe to say it will get an M stamp just like its predecessor did.

The game will feature “all new characters, skills, environments, enemies, weapons and equipment, which come together in an ambitiously crafted story.” Supposedly, the game will also be tied into the past of Pandora, and will more deeply delve into the mysteries and back story of the Borderlands universe.

Hopefully “new characters” means new classes, “new weapons” means new elements, “new environments” means new planets, and “new enemies” means claptraps! We will just have to wait and see.
