Capcom Bets Big On The PS3

Capcom Bets Big On The PS3

None

According to Capcom, 2012 is going to be a big year for the PS3. Regardless of its recent trouble with hackers, Capcom believes that the PS3 is the console of choice for all Capcom games. In a recent financial forecast, Capcom predicted that PS3 games will account for nearly 44 percent of the company’s sales between now and March 31st of next year, totaling 8 million units sold across all their games on the console. Conversely, it only places its Xbox game sales at 26 percent, barely over half of the PS3’s projected number.

Of the sixteen games planned for release in the coming year, Sony mentions big name titles such as Resident Evil: Code Veronica X HD, Resident Evil 4 HD, and Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition as definite releases we could look forward to. However, it’s been mentioned that this financial period may also see additional Capcom titles, including the new Devil May Cry reboot and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.

Capcom also predicts a sharp decline in PSP sales over the next few months—due to anticipation for the NGP—so they are focusing less on that handheld console. With the Xbox 360 just not making the numbers, PS3 owners will have a lot to look forward to from Capcom in the next year.
