SFxTK Sales Fail To Satisfy

None

With the conclusion of the 2011 fiscal year on March 31, 2012 (do not ask me why a fiscal year ends on a different day than the calendar year), Capcom took some time to assess its finances and compile a report on its performance for the year. Despite multiple, million-selling, big-name titles, such as Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City and Monster Hunter Tri G, the company experienced a 16 percent decrease in net sales and a 13.8 percent decrease in operating income as compared to FY 2010.

Perhaps most interesting is that, despite selling what appears to be an extremely respectable 1.4 million units, the company regards Street Fighter X Tekken sales as “lagging,” having expected the crossover fighter to hit two million units, a full half million more than it has to date. It’s not all bad news, though, as the title is both launching on the PC this week and probably going to get a boost when the DLC characters are finally made available (though, to be fair, the controversy surrounding them might be the reason for the slower-than-expected sales in the first place). Also, Capcom expects its profits, as a whole, to spike with the release of Resident Evil 6, which they’re clearly marking out as their flagship title for the year.
