Street Fighter V Sales Didn’t Meet Capcom’s Expectations

Street Fighter V Sales Didn’t Meet Capcom’s Expectations

Street Fighter V did well. The game is Capcom’s 45th best selling title ever. But, it didn’t do exactly as well as the company would have liked. It thought the fighter would sell two million copies at the end of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. It didn’t. It only sold 1.4 million copies in that period of time.

Not that this is a death sentence for the series. Street Fighter V is closing in on Super Street Fighter IV’ s lifetime sales total, which is about 1.9 million units. Though, it’s 2 million short of Street Fighter IV’ s 3.4 million lifetime total.

You have to consider that this only takes into account the number of PlayStation 4 and Windows PC copies of Street Fighter V sold between it’s February 16 launch and March 31. 1.4 million isn’t bad for a little over a month! That number’s sure to rise after all of the game’s features are implemented.
