Do you think Capcom rereleasing Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was a good idea? Well, the sale figures certainly suggest it was. Now that Resident Evil 6 has been on the systems for about six months, Resident Evil 5 for just over three months, and Resident Evil 4 for a little over a week, Capcom’s released shipment figures. Over 1.5 million copies have been shipped worldwide.
Two other important numbers came up while Capcom was discussing Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 shipments. Of those over 1.5 million worldwide copies, over one million of them were sent to North America. That leaves about half a million for Europe. Over 69 million copies of Resident Evil series games in general have been sold worldwide, making it the company’s best seller. Unfortunately, none of these numbers included actual sales figures for Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6, which would have been a lot more interesting to see.
I would have been more interested in seeing what these shipment figures looked like after Halloween. Horror games often go on sale around the holiday. People are also more likely to pick such titles up around the end of the month, so they’ll have something to play on the scariest day of the year. There may have been a substantial difference.
