First, there was the news about a time limit on games (see our previous coverage ), now the Ministry of Culture in China has announced it is banning the PC games Hitman 2: Silent Assassin and Pain Killer due to excessive violence. They have also banned Sexy Poker due to pornographic material. They have also ordered Object Software, a Chinese developer, to remove a player vs. player (PvP) system from its upcoming Fod Online. They believe the reward system is “unhealthy”.
Because all video games must be approved by the Ministry of Culture, six other Chinese developed online games will receive penalties for failing to gain approval. The games are: Earth Civilization Online (Mingnuo Dongfang), Meteor Academy (R4S), 7Hero (PowerNet), Space Jiayuan (Fenteng Interactive), Huaxia Online (Shenzem Domain Network), and Sheng Zhan (Chinagames.net). The terms of these penalties were not revealed.
