Codemasters Acquires SEGA Racing Studio

Codemasters Acquires SEGA Racing Studio

None

Back on April 9, 2008 SEGA announced that it would be closing SEGA Racing Studio.  The firm was responsible for SEGA Rally Revo which found critical success but performed poorly on the commercial front.  Fortunately, all of that talent and expertise won’t go to waste.

Codemasters announced today that they have acquired the studio and will make it part of their racing team.  Codemasters has made such notable racing franchises as DiRT and Grid.  Subsequently, the acquisition of the studio should prove to be a perfect match.  Here’s what Codemasters’ CEO Rod Cousens had to say about the venture:

“In seizing this opportunity, we have created additional resources to escalate our plans in the racing segment.  We hope to welcome more than 40 people to the company and we have enjoyed the full co-operation of our friends at SEGA in making this happen. It is good business for Codemasters, an exciting prospect and there will be more to come as we are not content to stand still.”
